Straightforward pricing for off-road recovery, winch-outs, trail support, disabled SxS / ATV haul-outs, mud recovery, water recovery, snow recovery, sand recovery, and remote assistance throughout Houghton Lake and Northern Michigan.
Dispatch Deposit Required
A deposit is required before Houghton Lake Off-Road Recovery begins traveling to your location. Once we are dispatched, the applicable minimum response charge is earned and will not be refunded.
The minimum response charge covers travel time, fuel, equipment commitment, availability, trail access, wear and tear, and the cost of responding to your location.
$200 standard response minimum.
$500 high-risk or difficult-access minimum.

Pricing depends on where you are, how hard it is to reach you, vehicle condition, trail conditions, time of day, mud, water, snow, sand, and the amount of work required.

Trailer Haul-Out
+$150
Minimum add-on is +$150 for trailer haul-out. Distance, location, conditions, and difficulty may increase cost. This is only for disabled SxS, ATV, UTV, ORV, or similar off-road machines. Max weight 2,500 lbs.

Minimum Response Charges
The deposit is not a refundable hold. It is the minimum response charge collected before dispatch. For nearby, accessible, basic situations, the standard response minimum may cover the full service. More difficult recoveries, longer travel, trail access, mud, water, damaged vehicles, or extended work may cost more.
Standard Minimum Response
$200
Applies to nearby, accessible, basic calls on marked trails, accessible roads, ORV routes, driveways, camp roads, or similar locations with normal access and reasonable conditions.
For some simple recoveries, this may be the full service price.
This minimum is earned once we are dispatched.
High-Risk / Difficult Access
$500
Applies when the vehicle is not on a marked trail, access is unclear, or the location involves mud, water, deep snow, sand, swampy ground, flooded trails, long trail access, or damaging terrain.
Additional charges may apply if the recovery requires extended work, special handling, trailer haul-out, or extra equipment.
This minimum is earned once we are dispatched and is non-refundable.
If you cancel after we are already on the way, if another person pulls you out before we arrive, or if the vehicle is gone when we get there, the applicable minimum response charge still applies. Deposits will not be refunded.
When Does the $500 Minimum Apply?
- Vehicle is not on a marked trail, ORV route, road, driveway, or clearly accessible location
- Vehicle is in mud, water, deep snow, soft sand, swampy ground, or flooded trail conditions
- Access requires our recovery vehicle to travel through mud, water, ruts, tight woods, soft shoulders, or damaging terrain
- GPS location is unclear, access route is unknown, or the vehicle is far from solid ground
- Recovery may involve extended winching, multiple pulls, digging, recovery boards, or special handling
- The call involves long off-road access, severe weather, night conditions, or added risk to equipment
The $500 high-risk minimum is not always the final price. It is the minimum response charge for high-risk or difficult-access calls. Additional charges may apply based on actual recovery work, equipment needed, distance, time on scene, vehicle condition, and whether trailer haul-out is required.

- Snow, mud, sand, water, hills, trees, tight access, soft shoulders, ruts, or other difficult recovery conditions
- How much time, labor, equipment, cleanup, or special handling is required
- Time of day and seasonal conditions
- Whether another person is attempting recovery before or after we are dispatched

Cancellation After Dispatch
Once Houghton Lake Off-Road Recovery is dispatched, the applicable minimum response charge is earned.
If you cancel after dispatch, if another vehicle gets you out before we arrive, or if the vehicle is gone when we get there, you are still responsible for the applicable minimum response charge. Deposits will not be refunded.
This policy exists because off-road recovery requires travel time, fuel, equipment commitment, blocked availability, trail access, risk, wear and tear, and cleanup before the actual recovery may begin.
